COLCHESTER United played out a 1-1 draw with Crewe Alexandra to clinch their League Two status, on the final day of the season.

Noah Chilvers gave the U's a first-half lead but Elliott Nevitt's stoppage-time equaliser ensured the spoils were shared in front of a crowd of nearly 6,500, at the JobServe Community Stadium.

Here are the views of U's fans, as Danny Cowley's side secured their place in the EFL.

Another season at the wrong end of the table. 90th place isn't cause for celebration, whatever the relief of today's results. Hopefully the Cowleys can build further with their own players. Average league attendance over 4k and no home crowd under 3k shows the fans are buying in.

Just plain old me

A game to sum up the season. looked really good up until the 90th minute. Switched off and instead of coming away with 3 points we go away with 1. Lots of work needed in the summer

Si Collinson

And breathe. Thank god that’s over. Pleased to have survived but we can’t over celebrate mediocrity. Now to look forward to next season and brighter times.

Finally over the line after a long season but glad it's done. Great performance today by the team. Looking forward to the summer transfer window and next season. UP THE U'S

Glad to get over the line, Jon. The match was the story of our season in 90 odd minutes. Played pretty well, scored a decent goal, but didn’t take the other chances we had and can’t keep a clean sheet. Drew a game we should have won. I don’t care now, it’s history. LG2 2024/25

Happy for Noah, difficult year for him but he is one of our own. Summarises our season, should have won! Hopefully an overhaul of our squad would improve the mentality.

Saw some good fight and determination from every player today. Good to see @noahchilvers10 get his goal and unfortunate to concede to deny us a last day win. Big shake up over the summer and ready to go again next season. Up the U’s

Andy Totham

Great we are staying up but sadly cannot - we finished 3rd bottom - celebrate the ridiculous decisions to sack Garner and appoint Etherington. We were a broken club til chairman realised his wrong and appointed Cowleys. Still not sure they know tactics but love their enthusiasm.

Today's performance summed up our season. Huff & puff get the goal & then concede a poor one. Frustrating it took until today to get ourselves safe, but we did what we needed. A largely forgettable season & feel we need a big overhaul in the summer. RC has to back the Cowley's

Finally we can breathe, individual errors put us in this situation but if we sort that out next season, we could do really well, onto next season. UP THE U'S

Ian Fairhead

Been a season of ups & downs, unfortunately a lot more downs than ups!!. Looking forward to next season when hopefully we will be battling at the other end of the table. Have enjoyed the good day's, especially the last one.

Deep breath job done need to clear out deadwood now and rebuild can’t keep seasons like this. Onwards and upwards

Thought you guys looked ok, a bit panicky in defence and lacked that quality upfront, Chilvers was very good wouldn’t mind seeing what his contract is like in the summer!

David Clayton

Got the performance we needed. Pleased that Noah got the goal; hopefully won’t be the last time we see it. Mingi & Kelleher superb. Need to forget this season & give the Cowleys full control to rebuild. We can feel positive going into next season with them in charge. Up the U’s.

Dan Vonklinkenhoffen

I’ve been critical of Noah this season but today I thought he was excellent. The season has been tough, time for a big clear out and the Cowleys can crack on and build a team

Having found the U’s mid season I have loved following them. There is something special at the club, different from my massive love of Arsenal whom I can never get a ticket for. Up the U’s. Total relief and optimistic about the future under the Cowleys. We’ve been competitive in the second half of the season and eked every ounce from the players. Need to invest to compete need season. Jay Mingi is a massive prospect best player at the U’s.

Amos Parr

Typical of the whole season. Crewe were there to be picked off on the break in the second half, but we ran out of legs & conceded late as usual. "Never mind, there's always next season", as I've said since 1966!!

Shane Almond

Why do we always put ourselves through this? That aside though let's enjoy survival, laugh at Southend and look forward to a rebuild and push on for bigger and better things. I love Col U with everything I have and I just hope next season we fight at the other end of the table.

GCtiger07

No views, just pure and utter relief!! I think the season has been hampered with so many injuries & losing Taylor despite a season long loan! Cowley’s can build something special now.

For the last game, the performance and result sums up our entire season. We dominate for most of the game and come away with a draw or loss through some defensive error and lack of goal scoring. However I was happy with today's team effort. Kelleher and Mingi were the ones today.

Graham Ward

I’ve only seen them live on TV twice this season and it’s clear they need a striker for next year. Only one player scored double figures this season and he was Joe Taylor, who was recalled from a loan from Luton in January, so hasn’t played for 4 months for Colchester!!

Michael O'Brien

Glad it’s all over for a few months. Good to see the interview with Danny Cowley post match who made it clear that the same again would not be acceptable. Quite ironic that we still managed to concede in the 93rd minute from sloppiness.
