The halfway mark of the PDQ Cars North Essex League season has already arrived for many clubs.

And the promotion and relegation issues are beginning to take shape.

Frinton and Clacton are once again contesting the premier division title, but they are currently having to play second fiddle to Coggeshall, who are topping the table in style with five wins and only one defeat from their nine games - the other three were declared void.

Coggeshall are out of action this weekend so Clacton, who visit Maldon, and Frinton, who make the trip to bottom club Witham, have a chance to make-up vital ground.

Reigning champions Halstead are once again ruling the roost in division one with in-form Great Bromley, promoted from the second division at the end of last season, showing up particularly well in second place.

Halstead entertain Chappel and Wakes Colne at Star Stile on Sunday, while Bromley host St Osyth at Rectory Road.

Bocking and Boxted lead the way in division two with Clacton Ramblers some way behind in third spot.

Ramblers play at Tendring tomorrow with Bocking taking on the struggling Crow Lane club on Sunday.

Ardleigh entertain Boxted in a top four match.

West Mersea and Abberton are both pushing hard to overcome Little Bardfield Village at the third division summit with Mersea taking on Bardfield at home on Sunday, while Abberton play hosts to Great Horkesley.

St Osyth currently boast a very healthy lead at the top of division five, a lead they will be extremely keen to bolster with victories away at Colchester tomorrow and at home to second-placed Elmstead 24 hours later.
