Big-hitting Clacton cricketer Craig Williams was this week reflecting on his highest score in English cricket - and can't wait to wield the willow again in tomorrow's East Anglian Premier League match at home to Norwich.
The South African blasted 169 in the Seasiders' East Anglian Premier League draw at Cambridge Granta on Saturday.
And it surpassed his previous best on these shores - 166 two years ago while playing in the Central Lancashire League. "It went really well and was one of those days when everything clicked," Williams - who plundered 28 fours and two sixes - told the Gazette.
"I had a bit of luck early in my innings but after that managed to take full advantage and enjoyed playing on a wicket that was so hard and flat.
"I'd spent some time training with the juniors last week and it seemed to pay off in the way I played."
Clacton are back at Vista Road tomorrow and Williams added: "I'm looking forward to it - it's a big game and certainly one that's winnable."
Essex protege Michael Comber and fellow all-rounder Ian Morton are both available for the showdown, which starts at 11am.
