MIKE Duley secured a win in Colchester Golf Club's Victory Cup qualifier with a superb nett 66.
Playing off a handicap of six, Duley put together two great halves to pip the win from Stuart Macaulay (seven), who returned a card with one shot more.
Birdying the two par fives on the front nine, Duley evened it up with dropped shots on the awkward fifth and difficult sixth to turn on level par.
He went on to drop a shot on the long par four 12th and the short 14th but parred in to complete his best round for some time to receive the Victory Cup medal qualifier, which was presented to the club to commemorate its centenary last year.
Les Daughtrey (15) secured third place with a 68, followed by five scores of 69 returned by Ian Parry (seven), Brendan Booth (five), Alan Sharrocks (five) and Alan Baker (12).
Six players returned nett 70s, headed by Lewis Barber (12), followed by Peter Duley (six), Tim Logan (eight), David Linscott (nine), Andrew Patrick (12), Russell Storey (17) and the top two of the five 71s were Colin Terry (12) and Stuart Reed (12).
Parma Ellis (18) was the top lady qualifier and qualified by right.
