GERAINT Williams will instruct his Colchester United players to focus solely on beating Stoke City tomorrow.

With the U's set to play their final ever league game at Layer Road, the club will acknowledge the historic day with a number of events before and after the game.

However, while Colchester's fate in the Coca-Cola Championship has already been sealed in the form of relegation, their opponents still have a huge prize to play for, namely promotion to the Premier League.

After the humiliating 5-1 home defeat at the hands of Coventry City last weekend, Williams is determined to ensure his players are not distracted from the task in hand.

He said: "We have to put the fact that it's the last game at Layer Road out of our minds.

"Stoke are a strong side and they will come to us looking for promotion to the Premier League.

"They're a big physical, very well-organised side.

"They cause you a lot of problems from set pieces, throw-ins and corners and we have to stand up to that.

"That will be a big test and it's been proven by their results this year that people haven't been able to handle that."
