ALAN Lee has happy memories of Scunthorpe United.

And the Ipswich Town striker hopes to be beaming again by the end of Saturday's Coca-Cola Championship clash at Glanford Park.

The Blues are ninth with just eight games left, as they continue their quest for a place in the play-offs.

Matches between the sides are rare, with Ipswich last visiting Scunthorpe in the league way back in 1960.

But Lee has been there much more recently, achieving promotion with Burnley in May 2000.

He was on the bench as the Clarets won 2-1, going up from the then Nationwide League Division Two to Division One.

"I've got happy memories of the place as we managed to get promotion there," Lee told the Gazette.

"I can't quite remember whether we needed to win or just get a point but either way we did it, so it was a special day.

"It's a nice little club and ground."
