NICK Reynolds was first home for Tiptree Road Runners in the main event at The Grizzly in Devon.

The club took 14 members for this extreme race across 20 miles of beach, cliffs, steep hills, mud and river crossings and Reynolds finished in three hours 27 minutes 13 seconds, followed by Graham Byford in 3h 29m 21s.

Malcolm Bailey finished in 4h 28s and Carolyn Bownes and Barry Dobson completed the long journey in 4h 30m 08s, while Paul Shewbridge () and Gerry Dolden finished in 4h 10m 27s and 4h 2m 22s respectively on their Grizzly debuts.

In the shorter Cub' event, Ted Skinner ran 1h 29m 05s to finish 21st out of 240 finishers, followed by Spencer Dobson in 32nd in 1h 32m 53s.

Jamie Fairfull took 39th place in 1h 36m 03s, followed by Helen Ivory in 44th in 1h 36m 53s.

Kevin Bownes, Laura Shewbridge and Rob Hadgraft, all suffering injuries in the run-up to the event, ran together, finishing in 2h 10m 50s.
