COLCHESTER United's 2-1 defeat at Crystal Palace has left them nine points shy of safety at the bottom of the Coca-Cola Championship, with time running out on their season.

Despite boasting a healthy goalscoring record, 33 games have elapsed since the U's last kept a clean sheet in the league and manager Geraint Williams admitted that is one of the reasons why the club is at the foot of the table.

"I'm pleased with the way we've scored goals and we haven't struggled to do that this season," said the Colchester boss.

"We've scored enough goals to be higher up in the table but you can't get away from the statistics and the goals we've conceded."

Meanwhile, Lisbie was adamant that his disallowed effort should have stood.

The striker appeared to have finished off a sweeping move to equalise for the U's for a second time, only to see the attempt ruled out for offside.

However, Lisbie insisted he timed his run to perfection: "I thought I was right behind the defender.

"Phil (Ifil) did really well to get the ball in for me I didn't think that there was any way that I could have been offside.

"If I was, it would have been rubbish on my part."
