BRAINTREE TOWN are hoping their influential skipper Bradley Quinton will be fit enough to return for tomorrow's FA Trophy second round home tie with former Football League club Workington AFC.

Quinton has been struggling for weeks with a flu virus and was only a substitute for last week's lacklustre defeat at Fisher Athletic.

And the central midfielder's return to action would be a welcome boost to Iron boss Lee Patterson who insists a long run in the Trophy will not jeopardise the club's hopes of winning promotion from the Blue Square South league.

Wins over Gosport Borough and Gloucester City in earlier rounds of the Trophy have given Braintree the chance to pit their wits against the Blue Square North outfit.

A sum of £2,000 is up for grabs for the winners and although Patterson has set his sights on a promotion play-off place at the end of the season, he is very keen to progress as far as possible in the Trophy.

He said: "If I had a choice between getting promotion to the Blue Square Premier or winning the FA Trophy I would be greedy and take both!

"We just want to go through to the next round because we know that the further we go in the competition the more it will help the club in the long term."
