Colin Wallington has fired an ominous warning to rival sides in division one.

The Tiptree United boss, whose high-flying side sit eight points clear at the top of the table, insists there is still more to come from his free-scoring team in 2008.

The Jam-makers have enjoyed a stunning first-half of the campaign, winning 13 of their 17 matches and smashing 42 goals.

And, as he prepares his troops for tomorrow's home clash with Diss Town, Wallington told the Gazette: "I've been absolutely delighted with the way things have gone so far - but there's definitely more to come because we're a young side.

"We need to work on our midfielders getting forward into the box and, if we can do that, there's certainly more goals in this team."

Despite their lofty perch, Wallington insists there is no chance of complacency around Chapel Road.

Quite the opposite, in fact.

"We've still got an awful lot of hard work to do and every player knows that," said the former Maldon Town boss.

"It's always been our aim to get promotion this season - ideally as champions, of course - but last weekend proves that we can't take anything for granted.

"We lost 2-1 against Halstead, despite having 70 or 80 per cent of the possession. But we just couldn't do anything with it."
