Colchester United saw off Port Vale 2-0, on Saturday afternoon.

Goals from Courtney Senior and Ryan Jackson inside the opening 24 minutes secured the U's all three points at the JobServe Community Stadium, as they chalked up their first win of the season.

Here, Colchester United reporter Jonathan Waldron rates the players following an excellent home win.

DILLON BARNES 7

U’s keeper made good saves to deny Pope and Legge to help ensure a second straight clean sheet.

RYAN JACKSON 8

U’s right-back provided an ice-cool finish for his goal and helped snuff out Vale threat.

FRANKIE KENT 7

Was strong in the air in both boxes and was not afraid to bring the ball forward at times.

LUKE PROSSER 8

U’s skipper expertly nullified Miller’s threat and played the game at his own pace.

KANE VINCENT-YOUNG 7

Slotted back into the U’s side at left-back effortlessly after missing opener at Notts County.

Snapped away at the Vale midfield and refused to give them any time on the ball.

Was tenacious throughout and always seemed in control in midfield.

U’s man of the match. Took his goal very well and gave the Vale defence a torrid time.
