FORMER champion Colin Lloyd crashed out of the Stan James World Matchplay competition after losing 10-4 to Mervyn King.
King, making his debut in the competition, has already moved into the world's top 50 inside six months since switching to the PDC circuit.
But he produced arguably his best display in that time to soar past Colchester-born Lloyd.
