NEW Colchester United skipper Chris Porter says being given the captain’s armband has put extra fire in his belly for the new season.
The striker was officially given the responsibility last week, following the club’s 1-0 pre-season victory against West Ham.
Porter will be hoping to lead his team out again tonight, in their attractive friendly against Ipswich Town at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.
And the 31-year-old said: “I was looking forward to the season anyway but this has whet my appetite even more.
“I’m really pleased and proud to have been given the opportunity."
