TEAMS battled it out at Stoke by Nayland Golf Club’s St Patrick’s Day competition.
The team of Damien Slater, Bob Tokley, Richard Allen and Dick Chalmers claimed victory with 127 points.
There was varied scoring with the three scores to count format being used on the Gainsborough course.
A total of 136 players, making up 34 teams, took part in the event.
Results: 1 D Slater, R Tokley, R Allen, D Chalmers - 127 points; 2 D Mills, S Mills, P Pace, K Worster - 124; 3 R Bland, I Smith, I Benson, R Benson - 121; 4 R Cross, N Lee, D Prichard, K Cansdale - 119.
A total of 30 ladies battled it out in Stoke by Nayland’s stableford competition, on the first Constable course.
The strengthening wind spoilt things somewhat, not only with its chill but also shortening shots when hit directly into it.
In addition, the ball was sent sideways when caught in a crosswind.
The overall winner and winner of the silver section was Lesley Garnett, with 33 points.
Ann Thomas was runner-up with 32 points, while Anne Hemmings was third with 30 points.
Winner of the bronze section was Kate Fitzgerald with 22 points on countback, ahead of runner-up Edel Rew.
Trisch Jackson was third, with 22 points.
