Colchester United are considering a new bid for wantaway defender Greg Halford - with Middlesbrough the latest club to be linked with the player.
Halford remains on the transfer list at his own request and is out of contract at the end of the season.
He has been the subject of frenzied speculation over recent weeks.
The U's are currently mulling over a fresh offer from an unnamed club and Halford is being kept up to date with developments.
Colchester manager Geraint Williams said: "There have been bids for Greg this week and he is being kept informed of the situation.
"The board are considering them at the moment.
"Every bid that is put in writing for any player is considered.
"It will either be accepted or rejected and the club will take action in due course."
