Webster warns Brightlingsea Regent players to put Wembley dreams to the back of their minds
9:00am Friday 21st February 2014 in Sport
JAMES Webster will tell his BRIGHTLINGSEA REGENT players to put any Wembley dreams to the back of their minds when they take on Dunston UTS tomorrow.
The Thurlow Nunn League premier division side make the 600-mile round trip to Gateshead for their big FA Vase fifth-round tie this weekend, knowing that they are only three rounds from a memorable showpiece final.
Webster admits it has sometimes been difficult to strike a balance between Regent’s cup exploits and their league form, this season.
But he knows how much the FA Vase run means to his players and wants them to focus solely on beating 2012 winners Dunston and keeping their Wembley dream alive.
Webster said: “Every player’s dream is to play at Wembley and the FA Vase is the pinnacle of Step 5 football.
“It’s hard not to think about making the final but we have to try our best to try and put that to the back of our minds tomorrow.”
