U's being priced out of signing leading non-league players

Joe Dunne admits Colchester United are being priced out of signing some of non-league football’s brightest stars.

The U’s boss says the League One club regularly have representatives watching talented players in the Conference Premier and below.

But with a limited transfer budget, he concedes that the League One club now cannot afford to snare some of the best talent outside of the Football League.

This may well be true but comments such as this are not going to help and encourage lost supporters to come back to the fold. It sounds like our buying potential is as bad now as it's been at any time in the past Developing youth is only part of the answer and somehow we have to be able to bring in a few quality players to help with that development.
