Golby joins Heybridge Swifts' management team

PAUL Golby has been appointed joint-assistant manager at HEYBRIDGE SWIFTS.

He will occupy the role alongside current number two Chris Moore.

Golby will also fill the position of coach, as part of manager Jody’s Brown new-look back-room team at Scraley Road.

Brown has known the former MALDON & TIPTREE coach for the last two years, from their time together at Park Drive.

The Heybridge boss said: “Paul has a good personality and the right approach to help bring a group together.

“He also has a good knowledge of this level of football, having played and watched so much of it.”

Golby had a successful playing career with the likes of AFC Hornchurch and Leyton.

Meanwhile, Brown is delighted Moore has agreed to stay and continue his long association with Swifts, having made his debut way back in 1991.

“Chris has a good relationship with the club and the players,” said Brown.

“He brings great contacts and experience, plus a sound understanding of the game, which will be helpful on the training ground.”

Ricky Clarke is staying on as the club’s goalkeeping coach.

Swifts, Maldon and Ryman One North neighbours WITHAM TOWN will be hoping the wet weather relents, having all had their matches postponed last Saturday.

Swifts are due to visit much-improved Redbridge – where Brown was previously manager - while Maldon are set to visit bottom of the table team Ware.

Witham are scheduled to entertain Cheshunt and, if it goes ahead, it will be their first home game since December 7.

Assistant boss Brad King hopes his side can carry on where they left off in 2013.

“We had good momentum going before Christmas and when you’re like that, you just want to be playing the next game,” he said.

Midfielder Kris Newby is suspended, while Paul King faces a fitness test on a hamstring problem.
