Hounds are hoping their sound will lead to big things this year.

Hounds are Olly Burden, Chas Langston and Chris Frisbee and among their growing army of fans is a Little Britain star.

The lads, all in the mid 20s, are from Braintree and having known each other for ten years and collaborated on a variety of projects the lads decided to fuse their talents and form Hounds.

They have a punk rock sound with a dance edge.

Olly said: “I guess our music has a bit of everything. We all like a lot of the same stuff; everything from The Clash and Metallica to Nine Inch Nails and NWA.”

Olly and Chas were friends since childhood and Olly met Chris when they studied together at Braintree College.

The lads deliver an energetic live performance with the use of both live instruments and samples. Olly’s distinctive anarchic vocals add to their unique sound.

Olly plays guitar, as well as being lead singer, Chas is on drums and does backing vocals and samples and Chris is on bass.

Last month they did a gig with Matt Horne, of Gavin and Stacey fame.

“He does a monthly session in London where he DJs and he invites bands to play,” Olly said. “We played in Hoxton and it was a sell out, absolutely brilliant.”

The band found out last week they will be touring the country between April 5 and 17 alongside one of their favourite bands, Does it Offend You, Yeah?

The Reading-based five-piece are making a name for themselves and have worked with the likes of Muse, Bloc Party and The Prodigy.

Hounds have sites on Myspace, Facebook and Twitter, with a combined membership of over 3,000.

Olly said the band have a couple of songs planned for release this year.

Lisa Parker, who reviewed the band in Chelmsford for the Times last year, said: “If music was a fist- this is what it would feel like to be on the receiving end.”
