Schoolchildren are decorating a subway which intimidated their families and classmates.
Powers Hall Junior School pupils Elizabeth Dortel and Ella Louisa Gornall wrote to Braintree Council to ask for their help in revamping the Spa Road underpass near their school in Witham.
They said people felt intimidated by graffiti on the walls and on Friday took part in a workshop with their classmates to produce designs for the subway.
Urban artists from Graffworkz helped the children with their ideas and the finished pieces will be unveiled in mid July.
