BURNHAM’S festive fayre returns this weekend packed full of Christmas goodness.

On Saturday, Burnham’s High Street will be closed off to make way for more than 50 Christmas stalls and a fairground which will take over the street from 2pm.

Burnham’s many excellent restaurants and pubs will be taking part in the festivities, opening their doors for the entirety of the fayre.

Additionally there will be bouncy castles, face painting, food and drink stands and a raffle going on.

The event is organised by the Burnham Carnival Committee.

At 3pm, the committee will be handing out cheques to their chosen local charities from donations at this year’s carnival.

Following this, at 4pm, the real Father Christmas will be coming down the high street to give out free sweets to all of the children.

As well as the festive fun, during the afternoon there will also be performances from the Rayleigh Brass band, and the Ormiston Rivers Academy Choir.

The event is free of charge, but there will be elves with collecting buckets dotted around, as the committee want to raise even more money for the Dengie’s charities and good causes, as well as the raffle where prizes have been kindly donated by local businesses.

The shops and businesses of the high street are going to be dressing up their windows and displays in honour of the event to make the street look as vibrant as possible.

These include Marts Parts, The Cabin, Pink Cola, Trinkets and Treasures, JoJos, the tourist information centre, The Star, Hellen Rollason, the air ambulance shop plus many more.

The high street is set to be closed off from 9am on Saturday until 9pm between Chapel Road and Riverside Road.

There is plenty of free parking around Burnham town centre plus Ormiston Rivers Academy and St Mary’s Church.

There are regular trains from London Liverpool Street and Wickford into Burnham, with buses 31X and 31B from Chelmsford via Maldon.
