FERRARIS, Bugatti Veyrons and air displays were just some of the attractions on offer during one of Essex’s most prestigious car shows.

The Warren Classic and Supercar Show in Woodham Walter has become an increasingly popular event ever since its inception in 2013 and once again drew in a crowd of more than 10,000 people on Sunday.

Both classic and contemporary cars were on show at the Warren Golf & Country Club as the public marvelled at a variety of vehicles.

An 1960 Alfa Romeo claimed the coveted Best in Show prize, while runners up included a 1937 Bentley 4 ¼ Gurney Nutting and a 1953 Ferrari 250 MM Vignale spider.

There was 120 world class concours cars on show and various supercars were paraded throughout the day.

A tribute to the late British motor racing icon John Surtees was also made, as two Grand Prix cars were shown to the crowd along with a number of his own motorcycles and vehicles.

Mr Surtees is the only racer ever to have won world championships on two and four wheels separately.

Aside from cars, there was also a number of family friendly events on offer such as monster trucks, bouncy castles and children’s rides.

Those who stayed for the entire day were also treated to a display from the Blades Air Team, whilst the RAF Falcons parachute team performed their own freefall routine to bring the show to an end in style.

John Mayhead, press officer for the event, was delighted with the success of the day and hailed the variety of cars on display throughout the show.

He said: “We are massively happy, there were huge smiles all round.

“The response on social media has been brilliant as well to be honest.

“Some of the cars there were extraordinary.

“I go to a lot of car shows but the breadth of cars on display was absolutely fantastic.

“It was noticeably a lot busier than last year.

“What was really nice was some of the car clubs really throwing themselves into it. One of them had something like 40 cars out there.

“We’re really getting a reputation for having some very special cars.

“There will definitely be more of the same next year like a lot more high end cars and supercars.”
