A HEYBRIDGE couple are ready to make their dream come true as they begin filming for their first feature length project.

Charlette Kilby and Carl Strathie are at a studio in York producing their first film, SOLIS.

The pair, who met at Plume School, convinced Westworld and The Walking Dead’s Steven Ogg to play the lead.

For producer Charlette and director and writer Carl, 26, the chance to make the film is a dream come true.

Charlette, 27, said: “We have been trying to make it in the film industry for many years. We did not go to film college, we couldn’t afford to. We thought we would teach ourselves and do some short films to try and gain some attention.

“We wrote this script two or three years ago and were basically cold calling people in the industry, trying to get them interested.

“Tony Noble, who was the production designer on Moon, picked it up and was really interested. He put us in touch with GSP studio up here in York and months later here we are.

“It is brilliant. I don’t want to sound cheesy but it is a dream come true.

“We have had to sacrifice so much to make this happen, and to see it going so well is great. The people we have here are fantastic.”

Ogg, who played the role of Trevor in acclaimed computer game Grand Theft Auto V and is currently on screens as Simon in The Walking Dead, has been committed to the project for three years.

Charlette explained: “We wrote the script specifically for Steven after his fantastic performance in GTA.

“We got him before the big production companies, before Westworld, before The Walking Dead.

“We sent him the script and he came back saying he had to be involved. He has stuck with us all this time.

“He has pushed us and encouraged us all the way.

“It is so great to be working with someone like him. He needs bigger roles because he is outstanding.”

SOLIS is set in the distant future where Steven portrays an asteroid miner. There has been an accident and he has had to flee within an escape craft.

He is running out of oxygen and is drifting towards the sun.

Charlette added: “He is going to burn up and has no power to stop himself. There is a rescue ship coming to save him and the only contact he has is over an intermittent radio signal.

“He has given up on life, and himself, but the commander of the rescuing ship helps him through it all and gives him a reason to survive, physically and emotionally.”
