A LADIES choir has raised over £500 for a cancer charity.

Performing at the Royal Burnham Yacht Club, the 18-strong local choir Harmony performed a huge variety of melodies from jazz to upbeat chart toppers from the likes of British band Queen.

Guest of the performance and the club helped to raise donations throughout the night to reach a grand total of over £500 for Helen Rollason Cancer Charity, who work with everyone who has their lives affected by cancer.

The evening saw a pre-concert jazz performance by pianist Esta Abbott and then the all-female choir, led by Natalie Bettany and accompanied by Esta, performed over ten songs ranging from the classics such as ‘Somewhere over the Rainbow’ through to the chart toppers such as ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’.

Ms Mettany, who is also Musical Director for the band, said: “The concert was a huge success and I am so proud of the ladies' achievements so far.

“We have had fantastic feedback and everyone involved in the concert from the venue to over 100 guests, who were integral to the smooth running of the evening.

“We are thrilled to be able to donate money to local charities and we all really enjoy performing on local stages.”
