A man has been charged with eight burglaries.
Elijah King, 31, unemployed, of Meadow Lane, Wickford, was charged with burglaries in Friern Gardens in Wickford, Southend Road in Wickford, Belchamps Road in Wickford, Third Avenue in Wickford, Short Lane in Wickford, Maldon Road Margaretting, Oxney Mead in Writtle, and The Gardens, Doddinghurst.
The burglaries took place between March 3 and April 5 and all the victims were elderly.
He is due to appear at court at a later date.
Essex Police would urge anyone who has information or has been a victim of burglary to call DCI Jon Burgess on 101, or contact independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 anonymously.
