The police helicopter, a dog unit and officers arrested a man in connection with an assualt in Mayland this morning.
Police were called to the village at 10am after reports of an assault.
A man fled when police arrived, but police searched the area until an arrest was made at 1.40pm.
The police helicopter Twitter accoutn @NPAS_Boreham tweeted: "18/1 1030 #Mayland to assist @EssexPoliceUK with a search for a potentially violent suspect."
The man, in his 30s, from East London, was arrested on suspicious of assault, assaulting a police officer and theft.
He remains in custody.
Officers would like to contact a woman who was jogging in the area during the search.
She is asked to call Insp Nikki Gander on 101.
