Five young people are speaking up for the Maldon youth.
Local pupils are among 75 youngsters aged 11-19 who have been elected to the Young Essex Assembly, the youth council for Essex after three months campaigning.
Ormiston Rivers pupils Connie Barker and Laura Spackman were elected, alongside Elizabeth Mead and Philippa Smith of Plume and William De Ferrers pupil Charlie Hailes.
Laura Spackman, 12, of Princes Avenue, Southminster, said: “I enjoyed promoting the young Essex assembly.
“My priorities are the children; many young people and teenagers do not believe they get the opportunity to have a say and I want to help change this.
“By being a YEA member I have the power to do this."
