A DIY community group for men is looking to expand following a £1,000 boost.
The Maldon Shed project is looking to open a second group in Southminster after a cash injection from Magnox, which runs Bradwell’s power station.
The group, launched by the Maldon and District Community Voluntary Service (CVS), has created a base for men to meet up and pursue practical interests including woodwork, leather crafts, carving and gardening.
The Shed Project is currently open three times a week at the Old Mortuary Building in Maldon and supports 36 registered members.
Director of Maldon CVS Sarah Laskar said: “Magnox’s funding has enabled us to prepare the Maldon Shed building for use and purchase power tools and benches.
“We are now looking into the feasibility of creating a Shed Project for the Southminster area on the back of this success. “
