A WOMAN has avoided jail despite assaulting her ex-husband.
Freda Webster, of Rose Bank, Dovercourt, denied attacking her former partner Darren Webster in April this year but was found guilty by Colchester Magistrates when she appeared in court on Friday.
Webster, 41, was given a ten-week prison sentence, suspended for one year for the attack where she struck her ex-husband between six and eight times.
He was left with facial injuries, including a puncture wound to his lip.
Webster will also have to undertake 150 hours of unpaid work as part of her punishment.
She will pay compensation of £250, a victim surcharge of £80 and court costs of £620.
