SMOKERS left with a chronic breathing condition have launched their own excercise class to help improve their condition.

Breathless is a new group which meets every Wednesday at the United Services Club off Barrack Lane in Harwich.

It was started by a small band of sufferers who met when attending a pulmonary rehabilitation course at The Fryatt Hospital in Dovercourt.

Jenny Griffiths, 75, attended the course run by physiotherapists after being diagnosed with the condition.

"I was diagnosed with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease having been a lifetime smoker.

"I wasn't aware of the risks when I was 15/16 years old."

After attending a rehabilitation course Jenny, along with other sufferers decided they wanted to continue the exercises together.

* Breathless meets every Wednesday between 10.30am and 12noon at the United Services Club, Barrack Lane, Harwich.

Each session is 50p.
