UNEMPLOYMENT in Tendring has hit its lowest rate since September 2008.
Latest figures show there were 2,135 people out of work in the district in July, compared to 2,264 in June.
The latest figure is equivalent to 2.8 per cent of the working-age population.
It is the fifth month running that unemployment in the district has fallen.
In June last year there were 2,983 people – 3.9 per cent – claiming out-of-work benefits.
The statistics also show 5.9 per cent of 18 to 24 year olds are also claiming benefits, compared to a national figure of 3.9 percent.
But that figure is down from a high of 13.1 percent in February 2012.
