A WOMAN has been airlifted to hospital following a collision involving a pedestrian and car in Halstead.

A Herts Air Ambulance, rapid response vehicle, ambulance crew and officer were sent to High Street, near Chapel Road.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: "We received a call at 4.36pm today to High Street, Halstead, to a report of a collision between a pedestrian and car.

"A rapid response vehicle, ambulance crew, ambulance officer and Herts Air Ambulance were dispatched.

"They treated a woman in her 40s who had suffered a serious head injury. She was airlifted to Queens Hospital for further treatment.

"Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening."

An Essex Police spokesman said: “Police attended a collision involving a pedestrian and a car which happened in High Street, Halstead, yesterday afternoon.

"It took place shortly before 4.40pm and involved a woman aged in her 40s and a silver Kia Rio car.

"The woman was taken to Queen’s Hospital in Romford where her condition is described as serious but stable.

"The road was closed until around 6.30pm.”
