BRAINTREE’S MP has spoken out about a shooting in a quiet village that left a man with life-changing leg injuries.
James Cleverly said he has spoken with police about a burglary at a mansion in Rectory Road, Sible Hedingham, where armed raiders shot a man through his bedroom door.
He said: “I had a very useful briefing this morning from Essex Police about the shooting in the village over the weekend.
“My thoughts are with the victim of this terrible crime and I know the police are working hard to bring the perpetrators to justice.
“While events like this are shocking, it should be remembered that violent crime in our area is very, very rare.
“Anyone with information should contact Essex Police directly.”
The incident happened at about 4.40am on Saturday.
The man, in his 40s, had hidden in the bedroom after being threatened by two men.
The two suspects are both white, aged in their 20s, of slim build and were wearing dark clothing.
One of them is described as bald.
Anyone with information should call Essex Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
