About 17 people attended a river walk meeting.
Led by Community Landscape Officers from Braintree Council last Saturday, the aim was to enjoy the natural environment and encourage the community to get involved with assisting the council to improve the walk, which runs along the River Colne in Halstead from Broton Drive to Chaffinch Way.
A spokesman from the council said: “It was lovely weather and sightings of birds including chiffchaff and whitethroat.
“The officers gained some wonderful insights into the local history of the area while chatting to local residents.
“It was an enjoyable and informative walk and there was positive feedback for the idea of carrying out practical community volunteering on the site.”
