Play equipment bought in memory of a young Halstead girl is proving to be very popular.

Five-year-old Millie Brown, of Parker Way, Halstead, passed away in October after a battle with an inoperable brain tumour.

Last month, her family announced that some of the £25,000 they raised will be going towards a pirate galleon outdoor playhouse for the Park Preschool in Halstead, where Millie attended.

The playhouse has now been put up and the children are really enjoying it.

Denise Thurgood, co-manager at the nursery, said: “The children love it.

“They have come in dressed as pirates as well as inspired by it.

“It is the best bit of equipment out there.”

The family has also donated £2,500 to Colchester Hospitals Charity’s children’s ward appeal and £2,500 to Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust Children’s Ward in her memory.
