A BRONZE statue of a fruit picker has been unveiled - after the council got in a jam over who would pay for it.
Tiptree Parish Council Terry Slater said the council had expected the £25,000 bill for the statue to be picked up by Colchester Council. However, there was then a dispute over funding.
Mr Slater said: "When we asked Colchester Council for the money and they said there had been a clerical error."
Essex county councillor John Jowers suggested the council apply to the county council's Community Initiative Fund and was awarded £20,000 with the remaining £5,000 coming from Colchester Council.
