THE mum of a cerebral palsy sufferer has hit out at thieves who stole two wheelchairs belonging to her disabled daughter.
The wheelchairs had been left against the wall of Angela Lilley’s home in Humber Avenue, Jaywick, when they were taken on June 25.
One is described as red and virtually brand new with big wheels.
The other is blue with small wheels.
“I just do not understand people like that,” said Angela’s mum Beryl Bruce, of Great Bentley.
“It’s not the money. Why should people take things that do not belong to them?
“We have got Angela another one now. I have put white paint on it, saying ‘Keep your hands off’.”
Angela does not always sit in her chair, but needs it to aid stability while walking and to put her shopping in.
“Let’s hope this pricks their conscience,” added Beryl.
Angela, 25, was left “very upset” about the thefts and has reported the incidents to the police.
Anyone with information about the wheelchair thefts should call Clacton police on 101.
