BUDDING stage stars are preparing for a huge record-breaking show in Clacton.

Young cast members take to the Princes Theatre stage for the biggest production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat ever to be put on in Tendring.

Launched by Youth Theatre Performerz, it will feature a huge cast of children.

Final touches are being made to rehearsals for four performances from February 26-28.

Director Melissa Wenn said the youth theatre group is always looking for new challenges.

“We wanted to involve as many young people from Tendring interested in performing arts as possible,” she said.

“This is the biggest and youngest cast we have ever involved in a youth theatre production, and the young people have risen to the challenge tremendously.

“They have gained so much confidence during the rehearsals and are now very excited about being able to perform to an audience.”

Some of the cast members are complete novices, while others have already secured top roles despite their tender years.

Joseph will be played by Jack Speck, who was last year picked from 700 hopefuls to perform in Lord of the Flies at Norwich’s Theatre Royal.

Narrator Ellen Coleman also recently landed a role in ITV’s Sound of Music live performance.

Performances are at 7.30pm with a Saturdaymatinee at 2.30pm.

Tickets are £13 (£11 concessions, £45 family ticket) on 01255 686633 or at essexlive.
