A MAN has appeared in court in connection with an alleged meat cleaver attack on a woman in Clacton.
No charges were put to Kerry Roberts when he briefly appeared at Chelmsford Crown Court on Monday and the case was adjourned for two weeks.
Roberts, 48, was charged with attempted murder after an alleged attack on mother-of-four Ashley Arnold on Saturday, November 1, last year.
Mrs Arnold, of Meadow Way, Jaywick, received treatment for alleged injuries to her throat, face, arms and hands at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, in Cambridge.
The court heard defence lawyers for Roberts wanted more time to consider the case and offer prosecutors a possible plea to a lesser charge.
Roberts, of no fixed address, was remanded in custody. There was no application for bail.
