A NEW festival featuring music, comedy and entertainment will raise money for a Clacton youngster with a rare disease.

Soundstock festival is set to take place in Chelmsford for the first time next year.

Organisers wanted to create a family-friendly community event to support local performers, as well as raising cash for good causes.

One of the charities set to benefit from the two-day event is Stanley’s Heroes, set up by Rob and Laura Newman for two-year-old son, Stanley (right).

He has been diagnosed with the muscle-wasting disease congenital muscular dystrophy.

Family and friends have been working hard to raise cash for equipment to help him enjoy life as much as possible.

Their efforts will now be boosted by proceeds from Soundstock, which takes place on the weekend of May 2.

Tickets go on sale at a special event at Chelmsford venue The Bassment on Friday. Visit soundstockfestival.com
