FEW comedians could turn the worst year of their life into a resounding success – but comedy king Jim Davidson did just that.

The legendary funnyman is in the middle of a 54-date UK tour called No Further Action, which began at the Edinburgh Fringe in August.

The show tells the story of his arrest and the nightmare 12 months which followed, including him clearing his name and winning back the heart of the nation by becoming a landslide winner of Celebrity Big Brother.

There is also a book of the same name to go alongside the show.

The tour promises to entertain with the type of hilarious and outrageous insights Jim has become famous for.

“I had a rough ride for a while last year, but it’s great to be back on stage doing what I love, first in Edinburgh and then around the whole of the UK in the autumn,” he said.

“Looking back, I’m really glad I kept a diary to document what I was going through.

“I found it extremely cathartic and it has helped me tell the story in the book with total accuracy and honesty.

“It’s also helped me find some humour amongst it all too. I always seem to find the funny side and then, for a finale, along came Big Brother.

“Wait till you hear the inside stories on that.”

During the 1980s, Jim travelled the world performing for troops and took his entertainment to some of the most inhospitable places imaginable on his way to receiving an OBE.

He was also the face of primetime gameshows the Generation Game and Big Break.

Jim Davidson is at Clacton’s West Cliff Theatre on Tuesday.

Tickets cost £21.50 and are available on 01255 433344.
