A WOMAN was rushed to hospital after a fire broke out in her home.
It began in the bedroom of a bungalow in Harwich Road, Ardleigh, shortly after 1pm today.
Crews from Colchester and Weeley spent about an hour putting out the fire in the wood clad bungalow.
The occupant, a woman in her 50s, was taken to Colchester General Hospital by ambulance after inhaling large quantities of smoke.
The fire was started by an electrical fault in an outside light which set fire to the wood cladding and spread inside to the bedroom where it set light to a wardrobe.
Crews quickly extinguished by the fire which was contained to the bedroom.
