A community space which brings people together to make friends and learn new skills has officially opened in Cressing.

Cressing Temple Community Shed opened at Cressing Temple Barns with a special ceremony attended by councillors and its new members.

The premises has been created by refurbishing an old milking shed and will provide a safe space where people can meet and share their skills to like-minded members.

A steering committee for the shed first formed in July 2017 and the group was able to secure funds for the renovation thanks to Cressing Temple Gardens Charity, Essex Shed Network Scheme and Witham Town Councillor Angela Kilmartin.

The revamp of the premises has taken several months, but was finally completed in time for the official opening on Tuesday, January 23.

Bob Adams, chairman of Cressing Temple Community Shed, said “We have over 30 members and are looking for like-minded ladies and gentlemen to join our shed project.”
