A nurse at Braintree's biggest GP surgery has encouraged patients to sign up for their flu jab this winter.
Amanda Armstrong, advanced nurse practitioner at Church Lane Surgery, has called for residents to get their vaccination to help them stay well this winter.
She said: "Flu is very unpleasant, causing fever, chills, headache, aches and pains and extreme tiredness. However, it can be more severe – and in some cases even fatal – for certain groups such as the over 65s as well as both children and adults with underlying health conditions or weakened immune systems.
“The vaccine provides the best protection against the flu virus and people who are at risk can receive it free at their local GP surgery.”
