A POLICE surgery has been set up in Witham to offer advice to concerned residents.

The Witham Chamber of Commerce has teamed up with the Witham Neighbourhood Watch and Essex Police to secure facilities for a police surgery.

It will be held at The Hub in the Newlands Shopping Centre.

Essex Police said they are keen to engage with anyone who has any concerns and will welcome people to drop by.

It will be an opportunity to discuss issues with a member of the Community Policing Team.

The surgery times and dates will vary and will be posted via social media and on signs within The Hub.

Arrangements may be subject to short notice changes due to other operational commitments.

Police have already been out and about in the town centre this month offering advice.

Tina Townsend, chairman of the Chamber of Commerce, said: "We are pleased to be able to assist with this and feel it’s our way of again showing our support to the town centre by sponsoring the venue as part of our corporate and social responsibility."

Sergeant Tom Bastendorff, of Essex Police, said: "We are very grateful for this offer and thank both organisations for their support.

"The position of The Hub is very visible and easy to get to for everyone.

"We look forward to welcoming people to discuss their policing and community safety concerns.

"If you need to report an incident or crime, please do not wait for the surgery, please report it as soon as possible online at www.essex.police.uk or by dialling 101."

More information will follow once all arrangements are in place.
