PARENTS who lost their baby at 30 weeks have held a car meet in her memory.

Sapphire Leader and her partner Ashley Spurling, from Lister Road in Braintree, lost their daughter Lexi-Mae to pre-eclampsia last year.

The condition in pregnancy includes high blood pressure, sometimes with fluid retention.

Lexi-Mae was stillborn, and on the first anniversary of her death her parents decided to hold a memorial banger meet in Stansted.

They raised money for Kicks Count, the charity that helped them through the loss of their little girl.

Miss Leader, 22, said: "The hospital had said my blood pressure was really high and an ultra sound confirmed she had passed away.

"It broke us both. It's not something we will ever get used to but we are finding new ways to deal with it.

"We are just trying to get used to day to day life."

They now have a 12-week-old baby boy, Leo-George, who had to be delivered at 36 weeks due to the risk of pre-eclampsia.

Miss Leader wants to raise awareness of the condition.

She said: "I also want to try and raise awareness of stillbirth as it's still a taboo subject.

"We took t-shirts and charity pots from Kicks Count to the event to collect money for the charity.

"The banger meet went really well, Ashley took part in four races.

"So far from the Go Fund Me page we set up and the banger meet we have raised £110, and still have a few more donations to come in."

The event took place at Stansted Raceway on Sunday.
