A 17-year-old man was flown to hospital after a major crash last night.
The motorcyclist, from Witham, was rushed to Addenbrooke's Hospital after being involved in a collision in The Street, Hatfield Peverel, at around 8pm.
Police are now appealing for witnesses.
A spokesman said: "The collision happened on the B1137 The Street in Hatfield Peverel where it joins the London-bound track of the A12.
"A blue motorcycle, being ridden by a 17-year-old man from Witham, was travelling towards Hatfield Peverel from Boreham.
"There was a collision with a blue Fiat Idea being driven by a 63-year-old man from Wickham Bishops, which was joining the A12."
The man suffered multiple injuries, including a broken femur and a suspected broken pelvis.
A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: "We sent two ambulances, a rapid response vehicle and an air ambulance to the scene.
"He was flown to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridgeshire for further treatment. He is in a serious condition."
