A MAN suffered head injuries after being hit by a van.

The victims in his 50s was driving along the A120 towards Braintree in a black Audi A4 shortly before 6.40am on Thursday when his vehicle was overtaken by a white van.

As the two vehicles came to a stop near Discount Pet Foods in Marks Tey, the victim got out of his car and was hit by the van, which then sped off.

He suffered head injuries and was taken for treatment at hospital, but has since been released.

Officers from the Stanway Traffic Unit are investigating the incident and PC Roy Linton said:"The victim was left unconscious and the driver of the white van failed to stop at the scene.

"We believe it to have been a white Citroen Berlingo van but it could have been a similar style vehicle.

"This is a very serious incident and I would urge any witnesses or anyone with any information to come forward.”

Anybody that can help is asked to contact PC Linton at Stanway Traffic on Essex Police 101.
