Tributes have been paid to a popular librarian who died at the weekend.

Bamber Price, 60, had worked at Witham Library for six years as a deputy library supervisor.

Mr Price, of Clacton, had organised a world record attempt to recite the popular nursery rhyme Twinkle Twinkle Little Star in relay fashion, which would have taken place on Sunday.

However, the event was cancelled as a mark of respect after news of Mr Price’s death on Saturday evening.

The world record attempt, due to involve numerous pupils from Witham and Kelvedon schools, will now take place at a later date in the summer in his memory.

County Councillor Roger Hirst, member for libraries, said: “Bamber Price touched the lives of everyone who knew him and was a much-loved figure in the community.

"Our thoughts are with his wife and daughter at this difficult time.”
