The chairman of a nature project says he is proud of the community spirit that keeps the project moving.
Councillor for Bocking North Tony Everard has been helping to keep the wood safe and tidy for people to enjoy since 2009, with the help of around ten volunteers.
He chairs the Friends of Glebe Wood, who meet at Glebe Hall every two months to discuss what work needs to be done, remove overhanging trees and clear litter in and around the wood off Glebe Avenue.
The group have transformed the space, which was originally littered with harmful waste, concrete blocks and old furniture.
He believes the wood is central to the Glebe Estate and hopes to attract more volunteers of all ages.
He said: “The Glebe really is a lovely area and I like to keep people involved.
“I’m totally for the community and just can’t help but try to promote and facilitate different things.
“All the things I’m associated with and help to promote are all about giving youngsters the facilities to belong to something, to keep them going in a direction.”
